The College of Management at National Chi Nan University was established in 1998 and its goal is to endow students with quality education, technology literacy, business ethics, innovation, and domestic and global perspectives. The college embraces an educational concept of paying equal attention to both theory and practice, requiring a balanced development between professional training and academic research.

Department of International Business Studies

In response to the international trend of business globalization and economic regionalization, cooperation is key in promoting the overall national competitiveness, therefore, the department is bringing on board talented international personnel with vision, broadness, experience, and innovation. Through the course design, the department combines various international business fields, as well as combining business practices with academic courses; the department also promotes professionalism and practical engagement of students.


Department of Economics

The courses of the department are adequately chosen in order to provide knowledge, skills and value to students. In cooperation with the national economic development and local environment, the proper links between courses and economy, theory and policy planning are created and strengthened. In addition, to cultivate talent according to the needs of society, the department emphasizes the development of students’ international vision by providing career planning and tutoring in order to enhance the rate of employment and competitiveness of graduates.


Department of Information Management

The department is established with the aim to put useful theories into practice, to increase the country’s exchanges of culture, industry and trade with other nations, and to cultivate professional talents in the information management field in order to meet the needs of the country’s overseas investments. Furthermore, the current goal of a national balanced development is promoted by the department’s trend of academic research in central Taiwan and to advance its research quality


Department of Finance

Cooperating with the national, industrial, and economic development, the department aims to cultivate individuals with financial talents that excel socially, have excellent international perspectives and financial job market competitiveness, are independent and possess creative thinking.


Department of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Management

As management is the foundation of the required courses, the department offers over 40 credits of management-related subjects in order to strengthen students’ knowledge and ability of management. Elective courses in the fields / areas of Tourism, E-commerce, Innovation and Venture Management are supplementing cultivating additional skills and knowledge for our students.



The concept of promoting high-quality management education to working professionals by integrating International Business, Information Management and Finance MBA programs led to the formation of the EMBA program. Through systemized course-training, exchange and interaction between multiple disciplines, and the establishment of team cooperation, managers with abundant work experience are able to improvise and respond to the complex enterprise environment.


The PhD. Program in Strategy and Development of Emerging Industries

In most universities various departments have highly interrelated fields and courses, thus, the Ministry of Education encouraged the development of “Doctoral Programs”by establishing the University Act in order to aid all universities to cultivate cross-field talents in response to the needs of the industry and society. Through highly specialized courses designed into a program and by integrating resources of related departments a comprehensive curriculum is created. This enables both the integration and improvement of teaching resources and the courses to conform to a highly specialized learning development, therefore enhancing the competitiveness of students entering the job market.


Master Program in Strategy and Development of Emerging Industrie

In the fast-changing global environment, how the government and businesses control the industry developing trend, use the industry policies to coordinate with business operating layouts, make good use of industry analyzing, strategy planning, knowledge managing and operating models innovating, helping businesses occupy the key position of the division of work in the global industry in order to drive the economic development of the country has become the most important point that businesses and governments of each country which are faced with the highly competitive environment in the 21st century commonly put emphasis on. Therefore, the establishment of the Master Program in Strategy and Development of Emerging Industries is expected to cultivate professional personnel of emerging industry strategy planning and operating management for businesses and the country and enhance the power of research and practice in the field of emerging industries. By participating in related research plans through taking the Master Program, students are able to have a broader global vision. Especially that Taiwan is facing the transformative development of industries, hoping that with a deeper study, students would be able to contribute what they have learned to academic research or practical business in the field of emerging industries after graduation.

Teaching Equipment

The College of Management building possess a total area of 17900 square meters with over 11000 square meters of available area. Apart from its facilities and comfort, it offers high-quality education, research, office and space for student activities. Classrooms are equipped with digital podiums in order to provide the newest teaching environment. Additionally, the conference rooms (one room holding 270 people, one room holding 250 people, one room holding 120 people, two rooms holding 100 people each, two rooms holding 70 people each, two rooms holding 40 people each, one room holding 30 people) are all equipped with digital podiums, audio / digital control system, conference system, A4 digital whiteboards, and ezRecording digital 10teaching material recording system to fully support teaching.

The library currently contains over one thousand books, hundreds of periodicals and nearly one hundred tapes and CDs in the fields of Economics and Management; also dozens of important educational research software such as SAS, SPSS, MATLAB, RATS, TSP, EVIEW. Through the high-speed broadband fiber-optic network used on campus, all teachers and students in our college are able to search for data online, achieving the goal of resource sharing and connecting with other internet centers in the country via the UNIX system workstation in the Computer Center, making it convenient to exchange data for academic research.

Campus Environment



The school is located besides the main road from Puli to Sun Moon Lake. Heading up from the entrance is a panoramic view of green vegetation, several Chinese style buildings merging with nature and into the mountains and rivers of Shui Shia Lian. National Chi Nan University possess abundant natural and unique landscapes. Here, when the sun shines in a boundless sky, you can see Hehuan Mountain and in the night you can stargaze. Occasionally you can even see a clear rainbow after the rain. Wushe, Owanda, Sun Moon Lake, New Cross, Hehuan Mountain and Huisun Forest Area are all nearby. In the Hallway of Humanities, you can often see students sitting in a corner, reading. The beautiful and peaceful atmosphere found everywhere around the campus can help students focus, develop broader minds, and develop a care for the surroundings, all important assets to start living the future. In addition to a variety of natural resources found in Puli, the school offers courses in windsurfing, archery at Sun Moon Lake, and also offers special sports such as courses in golf, softball, swimming and ballroom dancing.

Future Outlook

As a response to important parts of national development, the school set up departments with local features and international competitiveness (tourism, cultural innovation, and healthcare related departments). At the same time, to strengthen the connection with the industry, after National Highway 6 opened, the school exerted local resources, established the virtual College of Industry under College of Management, using weekends to implement the main “Reverse Model”. This not only provides business educational training, rental of exhibition locations, staffing (teachers) and consulting service, but also offers a high-quality environment for studying and increases the interaction between teachers, students and the industry.
